Does more money make you more happy?

Been thinking about this a lot recently. Does having or earning more money make you happier? I am currently earning slightly below average income, and I believe if my income increased to something like $1,000 a day, I will be way happier. My friends think that having more money above a certain point (e.g. 80k) can make you happier, but once you can afford all the necessities in life, having more money will not affect your happiness.

What do you guys think? also, has your happiness increased as you made more money?

Having enough money to pay for the necessities removes a stress point that a lot of people have to deal with, so that is a significant positive that contributes to increased happiness. It seems to me though the people that are in your life are more important than money. Being surrounded by good people contributes more to happiness than the things money can buy.

Money may not make you happy, but having money enables you do more things and an gives you options. Give me the Jack, and I will disperse if necessary (i.e. Harvey and Irma) among other causes. Or I will take trip always looking for investment opportunities to cover expenses.
